Dr. Sydney G. McCalla
Dr. Sydney McCalla is Chief of Breast Surgery at Lincoln Medical/Mental Health Center. He is Assistant Professor of Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. A graduate of the University of the West Indies Medical School, he completed his surgical training at Harlem Hospital in New York. His interest in cancer outreach and screening peaked while at Harlem Hospital. For the past seven years, Dr. McCalla has provided surgical breast care to the medically underserved communities, primarily from the South Bronx. Through programs such as the Viva Mujer breast and cervical education outreach and screening program, Dr. McCalla uses his skills and experience to provide compassionate care to this community. Dr. McCalla was the unique physician involved in the training of the first group of volunteers, pioneers in the Viva Mujer Program. The program continues to flourish today.
Originally from Jamaica, WI, Dr. McCalla has become actively involved with groups providing free screening and surgical care in the Caribbean. He lectured at the University of the West Indies on the importance of cancer screening and early detection and treatment, especially in the underserved population.  He is married to Paula with three lovely children: Daren, David, and Dana.
