Elmont NY - Residents of the 3rd LD came out strong against Mangano's plan to shut down the 5th precinct. No vote taken after the item was called and debated for hours in the Public Safety sub-committee. The committee ultimately recessedwithout tabling the item or voting on it. Legislator Solages noted that recessing as they did was “highly unusual and possibly inappropriate as per our rules of procedure.”
Both committees were recessed rather than adjourned which means the item can be called up again on Monday Feb. 13.(11am) if they so choose by opening up Public Safety and Rules on proper notice.
Among those present at the hearings were John Johnson, Milagros Vicente, Joyce Stowe, Barbara Reynolds, Carolyn Bush, Maria and Laura Cortes, Orvelle Froome, Tamika Burkett, Greg Williams and Pat Nicolosi.
3rd LD Legislator, Solages said “We need to make sure the rest of the community is also informed, so I will be holding meetings in Valley Stream and Franklin Square, and W.Hempstead.”
