Second boy admits shopping cart push that hurt woman

NEW YORK — A second boy has admitted he and a friend pushed a shopping cart off a fourth-floor walkway at a New York City shopping center. The cart fell and critically hurt a woman below.

The boy pleaded guilty Wednesday in Family Court to assault. His punishment could entail 18 months or more in a juvenile facility. A judge is due to decide Dec. 7.

The boy told the judge he and his friend threw the cart off an East Harlem shopping plaza Oct. 30. He said he knew people were below and could have gotten hurt.

The cart plunged onto a woman who'd come to the shopping center to get Halloween candy.

The other boy pleaded guilty last week. He's now 13.

Both are being held until court dates next month.
