NEW YORK — The Brooklyn district attorney's office sex trafficking unit offers social services, clothing and help for victims.
The unit was created less than two years ago to combat what District Attorney Charles Hynes called a disturbing, often overlooked crime of sex trafficking in the U.S.
Prosecutors this week announced arrests in two separate cases of trafficking. One involved a 13-year-old girl held captive for two months. The other case was a 12-year-old who was forced to work as a prostitute for nearly a year.
The suspects are being held on sex trafficking and kidnapping charges.
