More students surrender in SAT-cheating scandal

MINEOLA -- More students have been implicated in an SAT cheating scandal in New York.

Three students accused of being paid to take college entrance exams for others surrendered to authorities on Tuesday. A spokesman for Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice says a fourth suspected impostor is expected to surrender on Monday.

She says eight of nine students who paid the others to take the exams also are surrendering Tuesday.

The arrests come after seven students at Great Neck North High School were arrested in September.

The scandal has prompted a state Senate investigation of security procedures surrounding the tests. Former FBI Director Louis Freeh has been retained by the organization that administers the SAT to review security.

The district attorney has scheduled a noon news conference on the case.
