3 men from Canada charged with NYC ATM scam

NEW YORK -- Three men from Canada are charged with planting hidden video cameras and other technology to steal passwords -- and about $300,000 -- from ATM users in New York City.

Dimitar Stamatov and Nikolai Ivanov pleaded not guilty Wednesday to scheming to defraud and other charges. Officials say Ivanov's brother, Iordan, also has been charged but is at large.

The Manhattan district attorney says the three traveled New York to outfit several Manhattan ATMs with a device that reads ATM card numbers.

Prosecutors say they also hid video cameras to record people typing in their passwords.

Prosecutors say the suspects matched card numbers and passwords to access almost 1,500 bank accounts. They're also accused of making fraudulent cash withdrawals and purchases.

Defense lawyers note that the charges are only allegations.
