No parole again for killer of NYC's Kitty Genovese

ALBANY -- The man who killed Kitty Genovese in New York City has been denied parole for the 15th time in a case that became notorious after reports neighbors failed to act as they heard the victim's screams.

The state Division of Parole decision Monday came after a Nov. 1 hearing for 76-year-old Winston Moseley, who's serving 20 years to life for murder, robbery and attempted kidnapping.

The 1964 killing of the 28-year-old Genovese became an urban horror story after reports nobody tried to help her when she was being stabbed to death. That account has been challenged over the years.

The parole board that interviewed Moseley praised his accomplishments and good record in prison, but said he's still a threat to the community. He'll be eligible for parole again in 2013.
