PAWLING -- Authorities say they've charged a teenager with vehicular manslaughter after an alcohol-related crash in the Hudson Valley that killed a 19-year-old man.
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says 17-year-old Michael Herman of Pawling is also charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving after he was released Thursday night from a Poughkeepsie hospital.
Deputies say Herman was driving a pickup truck late Wednesday night when he lost control and crashed into a tree in the village of Pawling. Police say passenger Christian Rohor of Pawling died at the scene.
A sheriff's deputy came upon the crash scene while on patrol.
Herman was sent to Dutchess County Jail, where he was being held on $10,000 bail. Police say they don't know if he has a lawyer.
