NY teen pleads guilty to stabbing girlfriend

HENRIETTA -- A western New York teenager has pleaded guilty to stabbing his girlfriend in the eye while they were inside a suburban Rochester supermarket.

Rochester media outlets report that 19-year-old Kevin Minemier pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault charges Wednesday morning before the start of his trial.

Police say he stabbed then-17-year-old Nicole Bean of Henrietta several times in the face while the two were in a Wegmans grocery store in their hometown last Jan. 25.

Two teenagers heard the girl's screams and disarmed Minemier.

Court documents showed that Minemier said he intended to kill Bean. The two had begun dating a month before the attack.

Minemier faces up to 20 years in prison when he's sentenced Nov. 10.
