AMHERST -- A New York high school has suspended a student accused of harassing the sister of a bullied teenager after his suicide last week.
Williamsville Schools Superintendent Scott Martzloff says in a video on the suburban Buffalo district's website Friday that a student was suspended "to the fullest extent allowed under education law." He didn't give details, but the law allows for permanent suspensions.
Alyssa Rodemeyer said she was harassed days after Jamey Rodemeyer's death when she and her friends began dancing to a song by her brother's favorite artist, Lady Gaga, at Williamsville North High School's Homecoming. Alyssa said some other students began yelling they were glad Jamey was dead.
Police and the district continue to investigate the suicide, which has drawn renewed national attention to school bullying.
