Bill Clinton to speak at conference in Albany

ALBANY -- Former President Bill Clinton will address an economic development conference next week at the Empire State Plaza.

Clinton will appear at a convention of 10 regional economic development councils created by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and tasked with developing plans in competition for $200 million in state funding.

Clinton was last in Albany in March, when he was paid $200,000 for a speech to students at the University at Albany. A state spokesman said Clinton will not be paid for this speech, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Indeed, officials did not formally announce the event, which was first reported by the Capital District Business Review. They have set up an online lottery for members of the public at http://nyworks.ny.gov/lotterynysstatewideconference.
