A survey from the American Academy of Dermatology has shown that teen girls are easily influenced by their mothers’ attitudes toward tanning beds. Two-thirds of indoor tanners have a family member who also used tanning beds, while only 28% of non-tanners do. Peer pressure was also a major factor: Almost all indoor tanners had friends who tanned indoors or outside. Tanning beds increase your risk for melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
