A Family Reunion


20150414 213204 sELMONT NY – Elmont Online together with residents of the Elmont community shared a moment with Harold Ekeh and his parents at the Nassau County Democratic Committee (NCDC) Annual Spring Dinner.

With more than 1100 in attendance the dinner was a great success.  The evening began with a standing ovation and the recitation of the Pledge led by Elmont’s scholar Harold Ekeh.  Harold was accepted to over a dozen universities including all eight Ivy League Universities.

20150414 203805 sLocal and state officials including the Honorable Carl Heastie pictured here with Elmont Online’s Aubrey Phillips and library board trustees Monique Hardial and Tammie Williams motivated those in attendance. Mr. Heastie repeated his pledge to be a voice for all of New York but noted that he attended Stony Brook University and played sports in Nassau County. “Long Island is a special place for me”, he said, “If you need me, if you believe my voice will help Nassau Democrats do not hesitate call me.”

In an online statement the NCDC thanked everyone who came out last night its Annual Spring Dinner!

“Because of you it was a great success! We would like to send a very special thank you to our special guests: NYS Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, NYS Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, Assemblyman Tood Kaminsky, NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Deputy Speaker Earlene Hooper, NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, TOH Democratic Leader Lauren Corcoran-Doolin, Assemblyman Chuck Lavine, Local 66's Peter Zarcone, Assemblywoman Michele Schimmel and ToNH Supervisor Judi Bosworth.”
