Some Schools are Well Managed

The office of the NY State Comptroller released its "School District Accountability Initiative - 2005 Annual Report".  The report found the Elmont Union Free School District is "generally well-managed."  District officials had taken practical steps to address the various issues.  Internal control systems were generally well-designed and operating as intended to provide reasonable assurance that district established policies and procedures were being followed."

The seventy page report found "In general, we do not see a need for any additional statutory changes at this time."  However it strongly recommended school districts take prompt action on recommendations specific to the school district.  Further the report restated deadlines and guidance for a variety of well known findings identified during the audits of all districts.

Of the 52 audit reports, the Elmont Union Free School District was one of five districts sited as a "well-managed" districts.
