Elmont Memorial High School Principal John Capozzi invited to speak at Senate Hearings

Elmont Memorial High School Principal, Mr. John Capozzi, and Assistant Principal Brian Burke, traveled to Washington D.C. to testify before the Full Committee Hearing on Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Reauthorization:  Improving America’s Secondary Schools.  The ESEA is the main federal law affecting education from kindergarten through high school.

The 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Committee announced today that divisions are now open for sign-ups! Forms can be requested by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or through the Facebook Site “Dutch Tourney David Dangerfield.” Committee Chairman Scott Cushing announced the sign-up opening this past weekend. The tournament is being held on July 9th at Dutch Broadway School, Elmont. The tip-off this year is at 9:30am and runs all day into the early evening.

Communities that take part in the tourney are: Elmont, Floral Park, North Valley Stream, Valley Stream, Franklin Square, West Hempstead, Stewart Manor, Bellerose Village, Bellerose Terrace, South Floral Park, Garden City South and New Hyde Park.

The Elmont Public Library hosted Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo as he announced that his office has filed lawsuits against two loan modification companies for engaging in nationwide foreclosure rescue scams. The lawsuits were filed against National Modification Service ("National Modification") and its founder Joseph Romano, and Infinity Mitigation Corporation, Infinity Funding Group ("Infinity"), and their owner and principal Neil Singer. The companies and their owners prey on homeowners facing foreclosure by claiming that they can save their homes, but often fail to provide the services promised. National Modification is based in Farmingdale, New York and Infinity is based in Bohemia, New York.

The Award Winning Model United Nations Program at Elmont Memorial High School is UNique!

Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations. Participants from national and international high schools debate current issues that are posed to the global community.  Elmont has been revered as one of the top schools (public or private) in the nation, winning awards time and time again as well as receiving a well deserved title of being a nationally recognized award-winning school.

Recently, the Elmont MUN attended a conference hosted by Georgetown University. The award winning team represented the nations of Kuwait and Bahrain at the Georgetown Model United Nations Conference.  The team won the OUTSTANDING DELEGATION/SCHOOL AWARD.    Members of the prestigious team are:
