Johnson and Johnson Skulduggery Continues Unabated

Shell GameWith just one week to go before the Democratic primary for New York State Assembly, the dirty tricks operation seems to be in full swing.  Elmont.org, in an exclusive, can report on some extraordinary moves by the campaign of embattled Assembly candidate Mimi Pierre Johnson and State Senator Johnson’s staff. The objective, according to insiders, is to deny the people of the Elmont community a free and fair election Primary day.  Johnson is squaring off against Elmont East End Civic Leader Patrick Nicolosi.

The dirty tricks campaign, being employed by the Johnson and Johnson campaign, has local observers now calling for an investigation by State Board Elections and local authorities as well as the New York State Senate office of Secretary of the Senate.

Last week, the Elmont Community Coalition Council, held its meeting at the Elmont Public Library with community leaders.  Before and during the meeting, Mimi Pierre Johnson campaign manager Abdul Hakim, was spotted handing out fliers on cars in the Elmont Library parking lot with a fictitious community group name printed on the flier whose sole purpose was to divide the Elmont community along racial lines.  The group, dubiously titled “Coalition to Save the Middle Class,” is now known to be a fake name with no such group locally.

Elmont Veterans are enraged by the move by Hakim and plan to call out Senator Johnson and his staff for “defaming the Elmont Memorial Library with this kind of deceit. I fought in a war so that people would live in a Democracy and this guy’s staff insults us and passes this stuff out here. Shame on him!”

The latest use of trickery by the Senator’s staff and his election team comes as no surprise to many as District Attorney Kathleen Rice has subpoenaed some 18 individuals for grand jury testimony regarding the fraud and forgery case being prosecuted by the DA. “Look this is the team that forged people’s names. They forged college kids names, a dead woman, so why should it come as a surprise that they now use fake community names to deceive the public? The real question is when will the community start to hold Senator Johnson accountable for this outrage. Hopefully, on Election Day, he will be taught a lesson,” said a prominent school leader.

Elmont.org has been informed that the flier was sent to the New York State Board of Elections for a formal inquiry along with photos for a thorough investigation. In addition, after consulting with NYS Board of Elections, it can be revealed that the group is not a registered group with the Board Elections. The fact that the flier was printed and distributed means that outside groups with money are trying to influence the Democratic Primary race.

Local Democrats are now wondering why fake groups would be funding Assembly candidate Mimi Pierre Johnson. “First her campaign forges signatures. She’s being investigated by the DA. Now this. Who is paying for her lawyers and these fliers. The public deserves an answer,” said  a former Democrat committee member with intimate knowledge of the situation.

“This is probably the most disturbing element I have seen in the Elmont community in a very long time,” remarked a patron of the Elmont Library who watched Mr. Hakim distribute the racially divisive flier. “This guy works for State Senator Johnson and I can’t understand why the Senator condones this kind of action. He was caught red handed and he will have to answer for it. It‘s funny. This guys puts on a Black History Month award with very little community support and then his staff passes out this racially charged flier. It makes you wonder what‘s in this guy‘s heart.”

The move by Senator Johnson, and his hand picked Assembly candidate Mimi Pierre Johnson, has resulted in community leaders openly questioning the Senator’s motives. “The real question is why would Senator Johnson allow such a disgusting flier to be distributed. More importantly, the taxpayers are paying the salary of this individual who passes it out. The flier uses a fake group name. Where is the money coming from for them to do this?”

In another move that has community leaders concerned is the concerted attack on civic leaders by the Johnson and Johnson team to intimidate and threaten volunteers. Elmont.org can reveal that a prominent Jamaica Square Civic Leader was humiliated this week when she was told that she lost her Primary Election Day Election Worker spot and moved to another polling place. The move, considered extraordinary by political observers, is being seen as a direct attack by the Senator and his staff to intimidate the prominent Democrat.  The Jamaica Square leader has worked at the polling place as it is within her civic area where she would be able to assist voters. She was moved out of the polling station as she has not declared her support for the Johnson and Johnson team.

“When we heard that she moved it was a direct signal that trickery was afoot and that Senator Johnson and Mimi Pierre Johnson would stoop to any level they could to intimidate and threaten community leaders,” said an Elmont civic leader.

The move by the Johnson and Johnson team drew laughs from other community leaders as well. “Wasn’t Mimi Pierre Johnson the one who testified at a NYS Senate hearing with Senator Johnson about voter intimidation in the Obama election? I wonder if she is going to report Abdul Hakim, Senator Johnson and herself to the Justice department for prosecution for intimidation? After all, now we have a real report of it and it was her campaign and Senator Johnson!”

The Assembly primary is September 14th and Democratic voters can vote at their polling station. Voters are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to Nassau County Board of Elections at 571-2411.

I got an email to come to the Elmont.org website. I'm real glad I got it. I've read these articles and don't feel good about all this. I think Elmont needs to stand up now and vote. We don't have Alfano anymore to watch our backs. We need a real leader to come forward and stand up for our Caribbean community and ALL of Elmont. People like Craig Johnson use our community. They get away with it because our community blindly votes Democrat and doesn't have people compete for our interests. Alfano won here because he delivered for Elmont Memorial and the schools. You can see what he did. We need politicians that know they must deliver and no more promises. Both Mimi and Craig get away with what they do because we allow it. We need a send a message and say No to them. My message for Craig Johnson is to stop lying. Stop treating us like we are a ghetto. WE ARE NOT.

I thought it was illegal to campaign on Library property?

The best thing we can do is not vote for either of the Johnson & Johnson team. Mimi is in way over her head and Craig Johnson can not be trusted. Elmont deserves better representation.

The Art of Listening

Senator MartinsLike many of you, I’m up early, reading the news and making breakfast before the rest of the family wakes up. Later, I manage to grab a few minutes to get ready between my wife and four children before embarking on daddy’s a.m. taxi service. This day, I’m a little late to an 8 a.m. meeting with union officials to discuss issues impacting them, but I’m sure I’ll make up the time somewhere in the day’s schedule.  By 9:30 a.m., I’m at a grammar school in another part of the district explaining how a bill becomes law to 200 fourth graders. They prove remarkably well-informed and pursue an analysis as to what recent legislation is likely to work and what they believe will not. I take mental notes.
