Under Pressure, Senator Johnson Legal Team Desperately Tries to muzzle 7th Senatorial District Voices

If the Senator Craig Johnson and Assembly candidate Mimi Pierre Johnson legal court challenge to Elmont resident and Assembly candidate Patrick Nicolosi didn’t infuriate the community enough, it turns out that Senator Johnson’s lawyers are up to their old tricks again. The latest Johnson legal move continues to tarnish the Democratic Party label locally where volunteers have worked steadily over the years to impact country-wide races.  Local party activists are actively “jumping ship” and working on other Democrat campaigns as Johnson has proven to be an “embarrassment.” This time, the Johnson and Johnson team is trying to stop Mineola Mayor Jack Martins from being listed on another party's line in this November’s ballot.  The legal “objection” to the Mineola Mayor’s petitions was lodged days ago. Word of the Senator Johnson’s legal team’s effort to muzzle residents of the 7th Senatorial district has rocked the community and raised more doubts about the Senator’s judgment.

Senator Johnson’s new legal challenges also brought snickering from many Elmont residents who point to the scandal plagued politician’s petitions with forged signatures, including the signatures of dead people and fraud committed upon the residents of Floral Park, Elmont and Franklin Square.

“This guy has a lot of nerve, to think he could stoop this low again just shows us that he’s part of the sleaze in Albany that has got to go,” said a longtime Elmont resident who added, “it’s unbelievable now he wants to silence a another voice? What’s he thinking?” Another resident sarcastically joked, “Who objected? A resident of the nearest cemetery?”

At the “Meet the New Covert Avenue Principal Reception” at the district offices of the Elmont Union Free District,  Senator Johnson was reported to have used expletive remarks to a prominent Elmont employee in describing the election campaign.

Senator Johnson’s desperate move comes just a day after his campaign was rocked with the local Elmont.org exclusive article about the Senator’s “adult porn movie title” tweets on the social network Twitter. The New York Post broke the statewide story that Senator Johnson was caught tweeting with his pals his “worse porn movie actors” during a Senate session day in Albany.   Porn tweets during in the heat of the budget battle that resulted in schools in Elmont, Floral Park, Great Neck, Port Washington, New Hyde Park, Franklin Square, Mineola and other schools throughout the 7th Senate district being slashed their school aid. The scandal injured Johnson and weakened his standing in Albany and the 7th Senate district. Johnson’s spokesperson arrogantly said the tweets were in fun.

Longtime political observers note that the Johnson and Johnson team fear that the party "will shine the light on Senator Johnson’s vote to eliminate the STAR Rebate checks, his votes for the MTA Tax, and his vote for cuts to school aid and hospitals that have resulted in nurses and health care workers being laid off". “There’s no doubt that Senator Johnson is afraid that people are going to find out that he voted to eliminate the STAR Rebate check program".

Senator Johnson cast the single vote that doomed the STAR Rebate Check program that gave senior citizens and homeowners rebate checks as a tax rebate program.  Seniors received in upwards of $700 and non-seniors received $500 under the program. Senator Johnson was the only Nassau County Senator to vote to eliminate the program.

The new legal maneuvers from Senator Johnson and his legal team have raised the calls for the District Attorney’s fraud bureau to aggressively investigate the well documented fraud and forgery of Senator Johnson’s petitions.

The failed and dismissed Johnson and Johnson legal challenge to Assembly candidate Patrick Nicolosi have set up a September primary where residents are being encouraged to cast their vote for Assembly. The election will determine who will carry the Democratic Party banner in the race to succeed popular Assemblyman Tom Alfano who is retiring after a 16 year run as the community’s representative.

In the weeks to come, Elmont.org will be encouraging candidates to participate in a candidates forum where residents will be able to question the Assembly candidates about their stands on the issues before the September 14TH primary.

I agree, why can't we just have some debates. The Johnson & Johnson team can't even have one debate. How can we vote for someone that can't even have a debate. How would we (the public) know who to vote for if we don't know there positions on several topics. I know the answer to this: VOTE FOR PATRICK NICOLOSI - HE IS THE PERSON WE NEED TO BE A VOICE FOR OUR COMMUNITY. TELL YOUR FRIENDS & RELATIVES TO COME OUT TO VOTE ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2010 PRIMARY and again on Election Day NOVEMBER 2, 2010. I have personally met Mr. Nicolosi and trust him to be my 21st District Assembly Candidate. I like his positions on several issues we confront in our lives today. Please visit www.patnicolosi.com and send Mr. Nicolosi and email informing him of your concerns.
REMEMBER UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL AND THAT IS WHAT THE J&J Team want. Lets make a difference and send Patrick Nicolosi to Albany.

I would really like to see a debate between Pat Nicolosi and Mimi. Maybe we can have one at the Elmont Library.

I would also like to see Craig Johnson and Jack Martins debate.

The Art of Listening

Senator MartinsLike many of you, I’m up early, reading the news and making breakfast before the rest of the family wakes up. Later, I manage to grab a few minutes to get ready between my wife and four children before embarking on daddy’s a.m. taxi service. This day, I’m a little late to an 8 a.m. meeting with union officials to discuss issues impacting them, but I’m sure I’ll make up the time somewhere in the day’s schedule.  By 9:30 a.m., I’m at a grammar school in another part of the district explaining how a bill becomes law to 200 fourth graders. They prove remarkably well-informed and pursue an analysis as to what recent legislation is likely to work and what they believe will not. I take mental notes.
