How About the Truth Senator Johnson? For Once.

Whitestone BridgeOver the past week, Elmont.org has chronicled the story of Senator Craig Johnson and Assembly candidate Mimi Pierre Johnson’s petition fraud scandal foisted upon the residents of the Elmont community. From the hired gun lawyers of Senator Johnson’s law firm who terrorized Elmont resident Patrick Nicolosi’s, to forged names on the Johnson and Johnson petitions, the story does not end.

Yesterday, delivered into resident email boxes was a letter from Senator Johnson announcing his support for a bill (S.6823B) that fights public corruption. The letter boasts of the Senator’s anger towards the betrayal of public trust in elected officials. Recent stories of the Senator Johnson’s fraud, forgery and betrayal of public trust on his petitions for public office seem like a very good start for the Attorney General to investigate.

To bring readers up to speed, Elmont.org has reported in detail Senator Johnson’s forgeries on petitions for his re-election bid. More individuals, contacted by Elmont.org have confirmed that their signatures were indeed forged on the official documents handed into Board of Elections from the Senator Johnson’s campaign. In addition, more community groups have contacted Elmont.org regarding the Senator’s promises of funding to community groups. One Superintendent quipped recently to PTA delegates regarding Senator Johnson’s grants, “as Norm from CHEERS used to say, the check’s in the mail” to laughter and disgust of those in attendance of the Senator’s promises that were never kept.

The Senator’s email provoked active debate and critical comment.  It arrived in the shadow of his silence on the fraud and forgery perpetrated on the community he is supposed to represent - not use.

As Elmont.org first reported, Senator Johnson’s nominating petitions for State Senate not only had his hand picked choice for Assembly Mimi Pierre Johnson on them, but delegates to the annual Judicial convention. For those of us unaware of the process, the Judicial convention is a meeting where delegates from the community gather and pick Judges who will sit on our courts.  This year, Senator Johnson’s running mate for the convention was one Kerry Mavroukas.

Elmont.org can now report on the uncovering of yet another scandal revolving around Senator Johnson’s petitions. This time, his Judicial delegate, Kerry Mavroukas, signed a witness statement stating that they lived in Floral Park. After an investigation where residents of Floral Park were interviewed, it can now be unveiled that we have gathered significant evidence that Mavroukas may actually lives in Whitestone, Queens.  Further, Kerry Marvoukas’ address as officially printed on the petitions is 8 Riveria Court, Malverne NY but when she signed as a witness she penned by hand “228 Floral Blvd Floral Park 11001” as her address on at least 7 petitions forms.

This individual was supposed to be a resident from the community and Nassau County resident to be qualified for this post. Instead, the delegate may not even live in Nassau County. Only residents of Nassau County can be delegates. Senator Johnson’s petition have committed another fraud on the people of the 7the Senate district and those who seek justice from our Nassau County Courts.

Thanks to the investigatory work of volunteers with Assembly candidate Patrick Nicolosi, Elmont.org can report that this matter was turned over to District Attorney Rice’s public corruption unit.

Senator Johnson’s self-promoting email was sent through his re-election website. Elmont.org, will be sending a public information request to the New York State Senate requesting the rules of constituent inquiries through email to the Senator’s office and the referral of private communications to the re-election campaign of the Senator. This ethical breach has been brought to the attention of Elmont.org by readers and will be thoroughly investigated.

Senator Johnson, over the past two years, has been critiqued quite sharply and accurately for voting with New York City Senators do the detriment of Long Island and, in particular, to the Elmont, Floral Park, Franklin Square, Stewart Manor and North Hempstead communities.  The Senator was the deciding vote on eliminating the STAR Rebate check program and slashed not only our fair share of school aid, but our regional share as well.  Elmont.org will be reporting on these issues in the weeks to come.

The Art of Listening

Senator MartinsLike many of you, I’m up early, reading the news and making breakfast before the rest of the family wakes up. Later, I manage to grab a few minutes to get ready between my wife and four children before embarking on daddy’s a.m. taxi service. This day, I’m a little late to an 8 a.m. meeting with union officials to discuss issues impacting them, but I’m sure I’ll make up the time somewhere in the day’s schedule.  By 9:30 a.m., I’m at a grammar school in another part of the district explaining how a bill becomes law to 200 fourth graders. They prove remarkably well-informed and pursue an analysis as to what recent legislation is likely to work and what they believe will not. I take mental notes.
