Paulette, Nurse, Mentor and Friend

paulette_mullingsSIS Paulette Mullings has been a Member of the Valley Stream Baptist Church for over 26 years. She has been a true inspiration to the entire membership, adults, youths, children and the community at large. She is popularly known to us as “Sista P.”

Sis Paulette served at various hospitals working as a Pediatric Nurse providing Neonatal care. She worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for seven years and began to attend Valley Stream Baptist Church during that time (1983).  In 1989, she joined St. Mary’s Hospital for children and provided two years short of two decades of service to St. Mary’s hospital before retiring in 2007.

While attending the church from 1983, she has contributed greatly to its present development. She has been a board member for several years while acting in the capacity of Trustee. She has been a faithful Member throughout her time, even through her sickness. She has led a truly dedicated and exemplary service to the work of the lord that will never be forgotten.

David Dangerfield, Sr Dies at 51

David Dangerfield, Sr.When word spread Saturday night of the sudden death of David Dangerfield, Sr., the sense of loss was profound and cut deep to many.  David was an Elmont and Royal Palm Beach community leader, firefighter, father, grandfather and surrogate parent.  David was 51 years old and is survived by his wife Erica and children TJ, David “Deuce,” Jordan, Jared, Davina, Chaanelle, Charrise. The outpouring of grief spilled onto the pages of FACEBOOK where group sites were started where children and adults throughout Elmont posted their reflections about a man that was called “Papa D” to so many.

Scott Cushing, a longtime family friend from Elmont and who led the Memorial Service at Riverside Chapel in Manhattan, said, “this is heartbreaking and tragic. David loved his family and everyone that knows the Dangerfields know what a deep, cutting loss this is. The incredible outpouring of sympathy and prayers for the family has been a g-dsend. David’s boys are like my own children. And, David was so proud of all of them and their achievements. I will never forget that kind, gentle man who was a brother to me.”

What do you do about a public official that has betrayed the public trust? Many times, the official resigns in public disgrace after a news story that uncovers the scandal. Others quietly leave and are never heard of again. Some continue in office thinking that nobody will ever find out.
