has lived in South Floral Parkfor 35 years.  A Queens College graduate, Sandy received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, and anthropology with emphasis on understanding children, and her Masters inEducation/Early Childhood Education from Adelphi University.  Sandra is a retired educator who has served as Assistant to the Principal at Covert Avenue School.  Married to Antonio, she has three children and one grandson. For many years Sandy taught a specialized program within the 1st grade known as ALEM (Adaptive Learning EnvironmentModel) geared to the specific needs of students and, as a result, led several summer workshops for teachers and graduate students at CW Post & South Hampton College. Active in the Stewart Manor PTA, she served on the Legislative Committee for Elmont’s Interschool Council of PTAs, and also as a member of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee to the Elmont School Board.  Sandy served on the Scholarship Committee for the Lewis Howard Latimer Assn. of Electrical Workers offering scholarships each year to HS School students of color wishing to pursuea higher education.  Sandy continues to be active in her new community. Together with her husband she is involved with Help 4 Kids, an organization helping children in need. Sandy has received many awards for her commitment and dedication including Assemblyman Alfano’s 21st Assembly District Women of Distinction Award. We recognize her today to again say thanks.
