Yes, I do use semantics. That’s called being an educated individual who has a respect for his native tongue. I also spell properly and use grammar appropriately which should be a basic requirement for any library trustee. I’ll answer your question Mr. Nicolosi. The community spent that $20,000 because in April of 2009, Civil Service issued a subpoena to the library requesting a copy of the contract of Advanced Consulting (AC). They had a serious concern that AC was providing services that went beyond allowable scope and violated Civil Service Law. The board, voting unanimously in public session, retained a law firm to review the contract as it related to Civil Service law. Due to a unanimous vote the President, Ms. Madera, did not even vote. The board’s attorney supported this action in public. In November of 2009, the attorney, an expert in this field, released his report to the board. One can only surmise, based on their steadfast refusal to release the report and which led to my filling an Article 78 law suit, that the board did not like the results as they most likely affirmed the concerns of Civil Service. Ms. Madera, showing a level of integrity that you will never know, resigned publicly in protest over the behind the scenes maneuvering the board undertook in order to prevent the attorney from speaking at the next public session as was advertised and which resulted in a large community turnout. Yes, it’s a shame that the community spent their money and that you and your lemming like board members refuse to turn over the report despite the fact that the court ruled in favor of making it available in April 2011. Also, not required to put out RFP’s? Let me inform you that the library is held liable under the laws of the NY State Department of Education as well as Public Body law. I’m not sure who is giving you your advice but I think I know. Finally, I would not brag about your friendship with the Comptroller until you learn to spell his name properly!
