As usual, Mr. Nicolosi, husband of Mrs. Nicolosi, uses irrelevant issues and smoke and mirrors to avoid dealing with the “facts.” In a recent letter written to each member of the board PRIOR to the findings at the school district, I challenged them to invite the Comptroller to come into the library and conduct an audit. Enough with selective rhetoric as it’s time to put up or shut up. Further, it appears Mr.Nicolosi has placed a dollar amount on integrity, transparency and adhering to comptroller regulations and, in some cases, the library's own policies. The size of the budget does NOT matter. In my opinion, claiming to have saved the taxpayers money, while insulting the public by not putting the contract for their outside consultant out to bid for over 25 years, not adhering to open meeting law in a consistent manner, refusing to hand over to the public the results of a report which WE paid over $20,000 for and maintaining such an excessive amount of OUR money in their reserve fund balance which allows them to claim a zero tax levy. These are not practices deserving of the trust and praise the library board seems to expect as an entitlement. Trust and respect, Mr. Nicolosi, are earned and not handed out as party favors!
Mr. Nicolosi further states that "everyone is welcome to look at our budget..." Really? Then explain to me why I was informed that in order to see it I had to FOIL it and when I did, it was rejected. And the reason given? The document does not exist! Really? One must ask, "what are they hiding."
