Elmont Online

This was a very proud day for the Elmont

This was a very proud day for the Elmont community. Over the years, I have had the privilege of coaching hundreds of now young adults in baseball, football, karate and basketball. As I have watched many of these young people grow into young men, I have to take a moment every once in a while to reflect on how many of these rising stars in Elmont can and will have an impact on our community. This team, like the Spartan Football team and many of the girls teams, have some of the most humble, kind and community spirited young people in our community. I think we sometimes forget how lucky we are in this community to have such young people involved. This team showed us all a few things we should reflect on- first, they never gave up when others said they would not make it. This team stood with one another and has helped those who needed support in difficult times. This team, led by example and stood tall in victory and in defeat. This team showed our community what you can do with heart, desire and commitment. We should all take a lesson from these young men. I hope they will pass on what they have learned to the next generation of young people who will walk the halls of Sparta.
