(ELMONT, NY) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D-Elmont) is proud to join forces with the Elmont Cardinals to present the 29th National Night Out at the Dutch Broadway Park (also known as “the Sump”) on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012.
National Night Out is an annual event held in more than 11,000 communities nationwide designed to raise awareness on drug prevention and crime, as well as issues related to violence.
A few of the most important goals of this year’s National Night out in Elmont are to generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships; and forge a strong sense of community by establishing partnerships with youths, parents, government and law enforcement agencies – all while having fun!
This community event is completely free and will include plenty of free giveaways, prizes and light refreshments. Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak with their local elected officials and police officers, and obtain information regarding many county and village services, banking and health services, as well as counseling pertaining to youth-related issues.
National sponsors include: Associa, the FBI, Nextdoor, Target (corporate) and Whitepages. Local sponsors are: 7-Eleven, Cornell University – Cooperative Extension Nassau County, East End Civics, Elmont Fire Department, Jerk Hut, Long Island Cares, Nassau Inter-County Express, New York Racing Association, South Side Studios, Target (local stores), Whipped Creats and many more.
