Elmont Memorial Celebrates Teachers and Students of the Month

emhs septemberThe 2011/2012 school year is up and running and there are numerous students who have made a strong and positive impression from the first days of school in September.  These students try their hardest and exceed their teachers’ expectations.  Principal John Capozzi presented the Students of the Month with certificates of achievement as well as a coupon for a free dessert at Applebee’s and a free cookie at Panera Bread.  Mr. Capozzi congratulated the students on beginning the year striving for excellence. deangelisElmont Memorial High School is proud to announce Ms. Karen DeAngelis as the teacher of the month for September 2011.  Ms. DeAngelis teaches the highly successful Read 180 Program at Elmont Memorial High School.  Her dedication to the students is especially apparent as the statewide assessments near and the students need extra practice and encouragement.  Ms. DeAngelis has dedicated numerous hours to the Middle States Accreditation Steering Committee to highlight Elmont Memorial’s achievements and earn the school national recognition.  Upon learning that Ms. DeAngelis was honored with the recognition of September teacher of the month, Daniel Louis, an Elmont 8th grader, said “Congratulations, you deserve it for all the great activities we do in class and your hard work with us!”

Memorial High School
recognizes Ms. Katrin Marino as the Teacher of the Month for October 2011.  She is a talented, dedicated and inspirational art teacher in her 11th year at Elmont Memorial High School.  Mr. Chris Yee, Art Department Chairperson, describes Ms. Marino “as always committed towards achieving teaching excellence with a sincere love of educating her students each and every day.”  In addition to her teaching, Ms. Marino is the advisor for the Yearbook Club, the Olympian.  Ms. Marino has trained the students to complete the entire yearbook in a digital format and has given them technology skills and experience that will help them compete in competitive college programs.
